The Vulkan-M (Malyuk, baby) is an Ukrainian bullpup assault rifle made by interpro invest
- Design
The rifle is an bullpup version of the AKM/AK-74 (theres both an 5.45x39 and 7.62x39mm version). The receiver of the rifle is fitted with a new all polymer parts like a grip assembly, stock/magazine well, and top cover. It has a new type of magazine release system where by the magazine release is behind the trigger and you dont need to rock and lock like an ordinary ak. The charging handle is infront of the rifle and is non-reciprocating + you can switch to both sides. Due to the ak's ejection port being far forward and the malyuk having a huge brass deflector. The rifle can be safely shot left handed without swapping the ejection side. The rifle is fitted with a new gasblock and it is not overly gassed like an AK, making it easy to suppress the 7.62 version. Under the grip there are holes where cold air can be sucked up to cool down the barrel. The rifle has simple crossbolt safety and a selector between full and semi in the back of the receiver

- History
Development began in 2005 and it was named the "Vulkan". The program derived from the older "VEPR" rifle. There were 12 prototype versions and the final version came out of 2018 and the Ukrainian armed forces adopted the rifle in 2017 with aimpoint compm4's with magnifiers and suppressors.
