AK5C

The AK-5C is a swedish 5.56x45mm assault rifle. The AK-5C is a modernized version of the AK-5 (Automatkarbin, Automatic Carbine) which is a licensed version of the FN FNC from Belgium. In the late 70's, the Swedish armed forces looked for a new assault rifle. The rifle needs to be chambered in 5.56x45mm nato, has to work in arctic conditions and needs to be easy to maintain and handle. Sweden tested multiple rifles. The Galil and the FFV 890C (Swedish version of the galil) were the most known ones, and they also tested the FNC. The FNC was proven to be the best rifle and the Swedish army made some modifications to it, calling it the AK-5. Sweden adopted the AK-5 in 1986. The AK-5C is the modernized version of the AK-5 made by Bofors, it has picatiny rails, a different stock and handguard, increased reliability, new magazines, ambi selector, new irons, a shortened barrel, reduced weights and a Optic and forgrip were installed. The AK-5C is still the standard assault rifle of fhe Swedish armed forces.
